Dear fellow Parishioners:
Thank you for supporting and praying for vocations through our Traveling Chalice or Crucifix program!

As we continue promoting vocations, we want to be more intentional and create opportunities to not only pray for but also foster vocations. With this said, we would like to announce that beginning in July, the last hour of our First Friday Adoration will be dedicated to praying for vocations!

Please consider joining us on Friday, May 3 from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. to pray for vocations.

Your prayers are powerful, and we truly appreciate your support! We will keep you informed as we host new opportunities and events to promote and support vocations.

Letter from our Pastor

My dear brothers and sisters,

We often hear it said that there is a shortage of priestly vocations in the Church. The priests that we do have are working long hours to fulfill the mission of Christ and His Church. Lately, we have brought to our own Archdiocese priests from other countries to assist us in our own shortage. At this time approximately 42% of the active priests within our Archdiocese are international priests; that is, they were born, educated and ordained for another part of the world. We have had to rely on their missionary spirit because without the priests there can be no Eucharist!
The Lord has always provided for his Church. Today, in our own time, He continues to call men to the priesthood. However, similar to the parable of the Sower and the Seed, the lures of today’s society seem to choke off the “yes” response needed. Many of our young people are willing to step forward and want a life radically different than the one modern society proposes. However, they never receive the encouragement to pursue a religious vocation. The ability to answer “yes” to God’s call to a religious vocation begins in the home, within family life. All priests and sister come from families!
Therefore, I encourage you to spend some time as a family to discuss and pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Set aside 10-15 minutes daily to reflect upon God’s call of service to His Church.
The chalice and paten are symbols of the sacrifice of Jesus that won for us eternal life; they hold His Body and Blood that is given up for us. Sacrificing time each day will win for the Church the men and women needed for servant leadership in the Church. Place them in a place of prominence in your home during this week to remember those who are serving as priests and religious as well as to pray for those being called. May they have the fortitude to bring to fulfillment the good work Christ has begun in them.

May your family and our Church be blessed through your prayers.
