Sponsors Needed!!!

As fully initiated members of the Body of Christ, parishioners are invited to support those in this process.  Sponsors are especially needed.

A person seeking to become Catholic needs a Catholic with whom to walk the journey and experience the faith life of the Church.

If you have a desire to share your faith with those who are seeking to join us at the Eucharistic table, please contact Lucille Pavlock in the parish office.

Un-Baptized Children and Youth: If your child/youth is between the ages of 7 and 17, he/she will begin a two year RCIA (adapted for children) preparation process.   At the end of this time, he/she will receive the three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, First Eucharist and Confirmation. Parents of un-baptized children must register their child in Formation. You will then receive information regarding the introductory session to be held in mid- September. One or preferably both parents must attend this information session with their child or teenager. A copy of your child’s Birth Certificate is required.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which adults and children age 7 and older enter the Church.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (U.S. edition, 1988) reminds us: "The people of God, as represented by the local church, should understand...that the initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptized."   The process begins with a period of inquiry, when those seeking communion with the Catholic Church come and ask any initial questions they may have. Following the period of inquiry is the catechumenate, a time of more formal study and preparation for baptism.  Unbaptized adults and youth age seven and older typically enter the Church at the Easter Vigil, when they receive all three sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist). Those who are baptized in another Christian tradition may enter the Church during the Easter season, or at another appropriate time.

Adults seeking Baptism, baptized Christians seeking full communion with the Catholic Church and baptized Catholics who want to complete their initiation with both the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist are invited to join us for our initial inquiry sessions on most Tuesdays from 7-8:30pm.

RICA
